Kid room redo

We decided to switch the kid rooms, to minimize the fighting on the weekend in whose room needed to be cleaned so guinea pig cage could be cleaned.
So a little redecorating had to be done, her room was white and pink and his was red, white and black with Mickey Mouse all over. Big change!!!

We decided on a Husker theme for him.

She has had a black and white room with pink and Paris accents. We kept the Paris theme, but she chose a Tiffany blue. I still need to make her curtains and a curtain for the closet ( her choice)

They haven't seen them yet, I can't wait!!!

Week of Feb. 23rd. Menus and Mottos

Menu for the week is:

Hamburgers and corn

Totchos- just like it sounds, Tater Tot Nachos. I just make tater tots and we top them with nacho toppings

Holy Yum Chicken & green beans- this was a new recipe for me. Just like the post states, USE THE EXACT INGREDIENTS, I thought I had enough maple syrup. I will try it again with all of the correct items.

Healthy pancakes and eggs- very good!!

Potato soup- my husband bought potato soup from Schwans. We have not had it before, so we will give this a try.

Motto for the week... Change can be good, if it weren't for change, we would be dodging dinosaurs.

Back in the Saddle

I am not very good at constant blogging. My favorite blogs, have decor ideas, beauty ideas, recipes and my favorite menu ideas.
So my goal is to bring you our weekly menu ideas. It varies on what day I go to the store, so I might switch it up and just list the items, but no specific to a day. Also keeping this in mind, gym nights the recipes are quick and easy, as we get home later than normal.

1. Pulled Pork, Pasta Salad and Chips - the pork was okay, not sure if I would use this recipe again.

2. Chicken Soft Tacos- Loved this, would do it again

3. Chili- this is my go to recipe

4. Hamburgers and Salads

5. Ham, corn and green beans

6. Grilled Chicken and rice- I brush the following marinade on the chicken while its grilling.
Whisk together:
2 garlic cloves
2 Tbs Balsamic Vinegar
2 tsp Dijon mustard
2 tsp brown sugar
3 Tbs olive oil

7. 7 layer SW salad- Love This
1 1/2 c sour cream
3/4 c chunky salsa
1 can (15oz) black beans, rinsed
1 large green bell pepper, diced
2 med Tomatoes, diced
1/2 c onion, thinly sliced
10 c lettuce
1 c cheddar cheese, shredded
1 1/2 c corn chips

Combine sour cream and salsa, mix well set aside. Layer beans, peppers, lettuce, tomatoes & onion in a large bowl. Spoon sour cream mixture on top. Top with shredded cheese. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Top with corn chips

Have a great rest of the week!

Day 7 & 8

Day 7&8- The Elves disappeared Saturday night, the kids were a little naughty.

24 day challenge- still going strong, feeling good

Day 6

Day 6- Smelly and Elizabeth must have hid quick this morning, Smelly was in our room hanging with Raggedy Ann. Elizabeth was sitting in the tiny chair on the sewing machine. I didn't take any pictures :(

24 day challenge- good day again. Down another 1.6 lbs.

Day 5

Day 5- These elves are exactly like the kids or they are copying them. Smelly was holding the wii steering wheel, probably playing NASCAR. And Elizabeth was all curled up in a blanket watching.

24 Day challenge- So far I feel that I am doing better than the last time I did the challenge. I need to look for some recipes and be more creative with my food. Grilled chicken and turkey burgers get old fast.

Day 4

Day 4- Elizabeth and Smelly must be like Cady, they love to read. We caught them reading a book about snowflakes.

24 day challenge- still doing good, grilled asparagus and chicken for lunch. Will try and weigh again on Saturday.
